You obviously love Northeast Philadelphia already, or you wouldn’t be on this site. But what do you love best about living in The NEast?

A recent post on PhillyBlog posed the same question to its NE users, and the answers were varied, but unsurprising.

Responses ranged from specific things like Pennypack Park to more general things like our many restaurants and central locations. Here are a few great replies:

…People here say “hello” to eachother when passing on the sidewalk; people watch out for eachother too. My neighbors share their veggies, flowers and plants with us, and we do likewise (our lettuice is in and its delicious!), our street is quiet, a one-way loop street, so not much trafffic at all. At night its soooo quiet, no sirens blasting or loud music. We can see tons of stars sitting on our front lawn.

I guess I really like the diversity. And I love how all of the neighborhoods are like their own towns equipped with their own diners, shops, markets, etc.

And to sum it all up:

The Northeast…
You’re close to your neighbors but you have your own yard.
It’s both car and SEPTA friendly.
You don’t have to choose between big box stores or small family owned storefronts.
Pennypack park.
Many parishes/churches/synagogues.
Many athletic associations/rec centers.
Franklin Mills Mall…don’t ask me why, I know I’m alone on this one.
Good restaurants and bars.
Proximity to I95 gets you down the shore quicker than anyone in the PA burbs.
