Family wants closure in son’s death 1
The Talley family of Mayfair is seeking answers surrounding the cause of their 12-year-old son’s death in June.
On June 29, Albert Talley was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer at Cottman Avenue and Cottage Street in Mayfair. His death was ruled an accident, after police investigators determined the boy had tripped, causing him to fall into the street and be hit. The driver of the truck is not believed to have had any fault.

But the Talley family says they have reason to believe their son was pushed into the intersection that afternoon. Neighbors and witnesses have told the victim’s father, Albert Talley, that they saw his son get pushed into the street while he was playing with a group of kids. The family says there was a block party going on the day their son was hit, possibly contributing to the confusion surrounding the accident.
Doreen Talley, the victim’s mother, just wants closure, she said. However her son died, she just wants to know the truth. Albert Talley has said the police told him they cannot do anything about the allegations of his son being pushed. He and his family have taken matters into their own hands by posting fliers around the neighborhood, encouraging witnesses to come forward.
The Accident Investigation Division has not yet spoken publicly about the case.
