On Friday, Oct. 30,  3rd Federal Bank, which already has a branch at Woodhaven, unveiled its plans for a new branch in the same center at Woodhaven and Knights roads. There was a ceremonial groundbreaking attended by the bank’s board of directors, the building contractors, Mayor Michael Nutter and several members of his staff, and members of the community. Bank president and CEO Kent Lufkin spoke and announced Mayor Nutter, who also spoke before the two gentlemen did a ceremonial dirt dig and toss, twice, to accommodate the photographers.

After the ceremonial groundbreaking dirt toss, our observant mayor noted that not only were many of the bank's personnel wearing green scarves or ties and some, green hard hats, but one young woman was outfitted nearly from head to toe wearing faux green alligator shoes.

A real believer in green even down to the vehicle in which he rides, Mayor Nutter and his staff depart the site in a Ford Tahoe Hybrid.

3rd Fred proudly holds up what may appear to be his tiny son or daughter in his right hand but in truth it's just a spongy hand exerciser. 3rd Fred was the most green of all the ceremony's attendees...literally green from head to foot except for the whites of his eyes.

  1. What do Mayor Nutter, alligator shoes and a green blob with eyes have in common? http://tinyurl.com/yzxfjdz
