Northeast resident Alice Simmons, of Welsh Road, donated one of two Christmas trees for the city’s tree-lighting ceremonies. Mayor Michael Nutter and his wife lit the tree in the center of the Love Park fountain.

Northeast Philadelphia Pharmaceutical Company Dixon-Shane LLC is one of three businesses that will be aided by state investments to expand its business. The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority approved over $2.9 million for the projects on Tuesday.

Charlot Aime, 28, was arrested Nov. 9 on the 1500-block of Sellers Street for breaking into his ex’s home and assaulting him. Aime broke into the house at 2:40 a.m. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 12.

Albert’s Second Story, an LGBT club located at 3180 Grant Ave., is having a monthly event for HIV-positive people and their supporters, starting at 8 p.m. Dec. 6. A scholarship fund will be raised for someone in Northeast Philadelphia with HIV/AIDS.

Northeast native Joy Silver, president and CEO of RainbowVision Properties, was the winner of a national award recognizing the top LGBT business. Tracy and Mia Levesque, a couple from Philadelphia, were the runners-up.
