I couldn't agree more Shannon.

I have no idea what m. is talking about. I think the vast majority of people who live in the Northeast area take pride in their neighborhoods and look forward to running into old classmates and friends when out and about.

As far as meeting new people goes, I've lived in the Northeast my entire life and have yet to meet every single person who also lives here. Everyday I meet someone new. I honestly don't see the need to wander outside of the area to meet new people when new people are wandering into MY neighborhood.

Northeast Philly IS on the rise m !!

Perhaps you need to re-explore it.

I'd say judging by this site alone - food reviews, real estate news, bar specials and art events to name a few, the Northeast has plenty going for it, but thanks for your thoughts.

nothing is good about ne philly. there is no tolerance for anything different. everyone looks the same and acts the same. and who wants to see the people they went to grade school with every time you go to the bar? live a little and meet new people! get out of your shell and try something new! people who stay in ne philly forever live very dull, boring lives.

Best: The Grey Lodge Pub

My only complaint is: too many pizza takeouts to choose from: you could go a full year without repeating. And don't even get me started about the cheesesteaks: who needs to go to S. Philly when we have the best here in NEPhila.! I guess I've saved the best for last: the fact that no matter where you go, someone knows someone from either your neighborhood, high school or parish because people choose to live in the Northeast all their lives & not move away. Even if I were to move "up" to St. Chris' in Somerton, I'm still known as a "Resurrection" girl. To move from "St. Matt's" to "BVM" can be considered a major step: all new people to get to know in your new "neighborhood", yet all part of the tapestry that IS Northeast Philly. I haven't even touched on the Irish bars, which vary from neighborhood to neighborhood with their distinctive, colorful patrons. God bless them all!

ive lived in NEPhilly all my life. ill start with the least favorite thing; the worst thing about where i live is that, unless you live in the neighborhood, you have no idea where youre going. people get lost pretty easily down the confusing winding streets with all the same name and same-looking houses. the thing i love most about living here; everything is at your fingertips. anything you need, corner stores, malls, schools. if you live here, you see the houses and streets enough to tell the difference and appreciate every one. we have our own personality, and were proud of all the downs as well as the ups. nothing can change how we feel about our home, NEPhilly.
