The snow stopped falling nearly two days ago, but it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Piles of cold, white fluff still line sidewalks, and many narrow streets are quickly becoming sheets of ice as kids toss snowballs at one another from behind cars. Parents salt and shovel, and neighbors help one another move many a stuck car.

The second snowfall of the season was a doozy, layering 23 inches of powder on the streets over the course of the weekend, and giving students and teachers a day off from school today. This goes on record as the largest snowstorm in December, with 21 inches back in 1909 as the closest.

As Action News’ meteorologist Adam Joseph pointed out, we’ve already seen more snow than we would in a typical winter, and today is the first day of the season.
