How to donate your old cell phone to domestice violence victims 1

Jan8

oldcellphoneIf you’re still holding on to that old brick-like cell phone for nostalgia’s sake, or letting your toddler play with your forgotten Motorola RAZR because the Fisher Price cell phones just don’t look real enough . . . stop.

Instead, donate your old cell phones to a good cause.

State Rep. Brendan Boyle’s office has recently become a Verizon HopeLine site, collecting old cell phones and distributing them to victims of domestic violence. Now, when your contract expires and you upgrade your phone, take the old one to either of Boyle’s offices in Burholme (7215 B Rising Sun Ave.) or Somerton (14320 Bustleton Ave.)

Working phones will be equipped with 3,000 minutes and given to a person who could really use it. Parts of broken phones will be sold, with proceeds going to local domestic violence shelters. It’s a win-win. You get rid of that duct-taped phone, and a domestic violence victim gets a little extra help.
