Let us preface this by saying how great NEast Philly’s relationship with MURL is. For the past two semesters, we’ve had a total of six students from Temple University’s Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab working with us, exploring the region, and helping us cover the Northeast.

And while we love the idea of sending student journalists out to unfamiliar neighborhoods, this is the second time said students have included Fairhill in the Northeast. (Other infractions have included Fishtown and Port Richmond).

As a blog post from last week reads:

“Its new home at 2526 North Adler Street serves as the latest addition to the northeast Philadelphia community’s Village of Arts and Humanities.” [map]

And once again North becomes Northeast — an error that could have been avoided with the help of a map, Wikipedia, or a conversation with someone at the Village of Arts and Humanities.

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
