Father Judge’s varsity soccer team earned the title of co-state champs back in November, sharing the honor with Central Dauphin High School. Coach John Dunlop submitted a recap and photo.

The Father Judge Soccer Team made history on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2009, as it became the first school from the city of Philadelphia to win a state soccer championship.

The road to the championship began with a thumping of Catholic League rival Archbishop Ryan, 3-0, on Nov. 3,  followed by Judge defeating George Washington, 1-0, to win the District 12 title. The Crusaders then defeated last year’s state champions Downington West, 2-1, followed by Central Bucks East, 1-0, then a double-overtime win over Unionville, 2-1.

The Crusaders tied Central Dauphin, 0-0, in double-overtime in the PIAA Class AAA boys soccer championship game played at Hershey Park Stadium. After the second 15-minute overtime period ended with no score by either team, Judge and Central Dauphin were declared co-champions

Congratulations in continueing the fine tradition of Fr. Judge Champions. I was a Cheer Leader during ’63-’64 and ’64-’65 when Fr. Judge had a Championship Football and Baseball Team.
Stay true to your school and remember all your friends.
