Firefighters were on the scene yesterday afternoon when a building under construction went up in flames.

The fire, at 5550 Whitaker Ave., happened around 12:30 p.m., and caused roof damage to the building. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and extinguish it quickly. No other damage or injuries have been reported, but the cause of the fire remains unknown.
