From the Philadelphia Protestant Home:
Boris (A.K.A. Mary Ellen Keller) with help from Kitty Iwanycky (left) and Thomasine Mapp (center) of the Crypt Kicker Five did “The Monster Mash” at The Philadelphia Protestant Home’s Volunteer Awards luncheon and musical review on April 15.
PPh said thanks to its 300 volunteers at a luncheon and comedy show performed by staff from the president to those in dining services. Last year, dedicated volunteers gave more than 38,500 hours of services to PPh – saving the Home approximately $650,000.
The theme of this year’s show was “PPh Celebrates the Four Seasons.” The Mummers, Gene Kelly, and Frankie and Annette, were just a few of the “celebrities” that helped MC Father Time (A.K.A. Anthony Manzo, PPh president and CEO) pay tribute to the joys of winter, spring, summer and fall.
The highlight of the show was the Miss PPh “Beauty” Pageant, a send up of the Miss America Pageant. Dave Hughes was crowned Miss PPh, beating out fellow contestants Bill Conaway, Todd Scarborough and Barry Fineman.
The Philadelphia Protestant Home is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located on 12 1/2 acres in Lawndale – home to more than 600 residents in Independent and Assisted Living and Health Care. PPh has been providing care to seniors for 119 years.
