  4. I would like to nominate my mom for an Extreme Makeover. She lost a daughter on 9/06/2001 and she lost my dad on 9/05/2009. My mom and dad had been married for 42 years and had a wonderful marriage. They retired in 2007 and moved to a small community called Rocky Ford, Colorado. They started a business called Affordable Housing for the Disadvantaged. My dad was killed in an ATV accident and this has left my mom with 14 rental houses. She is an active council member on the Rocky Ford City Council. She deals with her 14 houses, she volunteers at the Otero County District Court and County Court two days a week. She is very active in her church and this find her in the kitchen, when there is a funeral. She loves the youth of her church and enjoys entertaining them. She always manages to find the time to babysit her granddaughter who is 3 hours away on an as needed basis. She also takes her vacation every year the third week of July and goes to whereever Church Builders of Texas is building their church. She knits dishclothes and always has a suppy to give away. She gave six brand new ones to the church they built in Italy, Texas this past summer. She has a mountain lot in Nathrop, Colorado, that my mom and dad had always planned to build a cabin on. Now that my dad has passed, this dream will never happen because she doesn’t know how to begin nor does she have the funds to do it. This lot sits in a flood zone and requires a lot of special things before it can be built on.

    Thank you for your consideration.
