Northeast Catholic High School held its final graduation ceremony yesterday. Including the class of 2010, there are 39,746 alumni with 30,728 of them still living. The school opened its doors in 1926.

The Army Experience Center at Franklin Mills will close July 31, putting an end to the marketing program that exposed people to the idea of serving in the military and what it would be like. According to Brian Lepley, a spokesman for the Army Accessions Command, it is closing due to Senior Army leadership deciding it will not continue.
Mayor Michael Nutter stopped by Aria Health’s Frankford campus on May 27 to say thank you and to discuss the city’s budget that was passed by City Council. Nutter was at the Northeast EPIC Stakeholder meeting.
Bishop Maginnis announced his resignation from the Archdiocese on Tuesday. Cardinal Justin Rigali said the 46-year-old Reverend Monsignor John McIntyre will replace him as Auxiliary Bishop, with responsibilities beginning on August 6.
6-year-old Malachi Davey, the kindergartner who went missing from school on the day of the Comly Elementary School fair, walked home from school when his mother was late picking him up. The boy escaped through a police barricade that had been set up to keep children in and cars out. His route took him down Byberry Road in Somerton through the four lanes of Bustleton Avenue.

I beg to differ with the Army brass on this one. I think they are closing the Army Experience Center because too many people protested the U. S. Army targeting 13 to 17 year old boys and girls for recruitment. Too many people called the stores at Franklin Mills Mall and said they were boycotting the Mall stores until the Army Experience Center closed. When protesters and the media put light on what the U. S. Army was doing, it became to embarassing for them. How many ministers and priests protested there against the U. S. Army recruiting methods? Enough.
