Jun14

zoningTwo zoning notices came in over the weekend, which could bring major changes to the respective neighborhoods in the form of a super market and a major bar”

Ground will be broken this week for Court and Grant, a $40 million shopping center at Grant Avenue and Bluegrass Road.

The 156,000-square foot project is already 90 percent full, with Giant, LA Fitness and Five Guys Burgers and Fries occupying three of the main spaces. The project is expected to be complete by April 2011.

Paddy Whacks, the popular Irish sports bar that has two Boulevard locations, has requested a zoning hearing with the Mayfair Civic Association. The meeting, to be held tonight, will focus on the proposed fourth location (the third is on South Street) at Frankford Avenue and Glenview Street.

I hope they plan on doing something about the traffic in that area before they finish the shopping center at Grant and Blue Grass. I work right by there (Grant and Ashton) and since they built the Whitman Shopping Center, traffic has become a mess. Even the Wawa has become a problem because of all the people trying to turn in there off of Blue Grass. I really hope someone thinks about the traffic before these stores open because it is going to be a disaster.
