Fox Chase Town Watch President Steve Phillips sent us the above photo of a donation box in the area that was set on fire — a common occurrence recently. The box is located in the Rite Aid parking lot at 7418-32 Oxford Ave.

Phillips writes:

I sent you a photo of another Planet Aid box that was set on fire recently. While the Planet Aid concept benefits the needy, these boxes continue to be targets of vandals and constant eyesores for our Northeast Communities.”

Fox Chase Town Watch has been extremely vigilant over the years in preventing and cleaning up acts of vandalism. Now the group, along with State Rep. John Perzel,  may have to have the the Planet Aid boxes removed in the Fox Chase/Burholme area.

  1. Just in the past year I was told not all of these boxes are for the needy and that the donations are sold for profit by profit making corp. Maybe someone could do a story on this type of donation box.
