Signs were posted around the city last week when Gina Schickling went missing. The 22-year-old Mayfair woman was last seen in Northern Liberties around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Police recovered her body in New Jersey after Schickling was allegedly murdered by a man she met online.

Stephen Benford has been arrested and is expected to be charged with stabbing Schickling and leaving her body in a trashcan outside his family’s home near Newark, NJ.

According to reports, Schickling met Benford on OkCupid,a free dating website, and met him when she returned to Philadelphia from her college in San Diego. Benford is an ex-con on parole, who reportedly killed Schickling following an argument in his Kensington apartment.

Police have said Benford has admitted to the crime.

That is horrible for her family and I hope she RIP……As for him….Well apparently he isn’t very smart….He put her in a trash can outside his family’s home as if the trash men would just dispose of her body for him. I can’t get my trash men to take the trash half the time without complaining.

In this day and age, I would hope that people exercise caution when using ANY online dating site. It’s bad enough when you meet people in different place, you don’t know what you get. Let alone online!! I hope that people will learn something from this tragedy. I am terribly sorry for Gina’s family and hope that in some way any young girls who hear this story will think twice. As this man was an ex-con, who knows who may be waiting on the other side of that computer. Such a beautiful young girl lost to such a disgusting crime.

iT’S A TERRIBLE THING BUT AGAIN I JUAST DON’T UBDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE CAN DO THIS ‘DATE CRAP ON LINE’. U DON’T HAVE A DAM CLUE WHO OR WAT THAT PERSON REALLY IS OR LIKE, ONLY WAT THERE LETTING YOU KNOW USE YOUR FUCKING HEAD PEOPLE, COME ON!!!

  6. I am a friend of Gina’s.. and responding to “Roofers Wife”.. he had the trashcan hidden in the woods behind his parent’s home and she was missing for almost a week and the only reason that they found her was because he confessed.. i believe after he seen all of the signs posted, even outfront of his apartment, about her being missing, Its a tragedy, she was the type of person who had NO enemies, drug free, very smart and was doing sooo well in college.. She wasnt aware of his previous conviction or how hes currently on parole for trying to rundown a police officer.. And to “DEE GIBSON” – you cant really blame her for her actions because nowadays.. thats how everyone meets each other is by the internet, usually through mutual friends… she could have been just as jaded to his REAL personality as much as she would if she met him in person first [at a bar, club, etc].. The same risks go for meeting someone in person & online… you never know a persons true colors right away and theres always the same risk from meeting someone at a bar, or meeting them online. she wasnt dating him until they met, they were hanging out for about a week, maybe a few days more before he murdered her and that whole week was full of bliss.. she never knew,

I MISS AND LOVE YOU GINA! REST IN PEACE AND POWER BABYGIRL! ILL SEE YOU ON MONDAY TO SAY MY FINAL GOODBYE. IM SO LUCKY TO HAVE HAD YOU IN MY LIFE<3
