Right NEast/Wrong NEast: NBC has trouble reading signs in Holmesburg 4

So NBC10 reporters were on the scene yesterday when a man got stuck in the creek at Pennypack Park in Holmesburg.
Or, as you can read on NBC’s website, a man was stuck in the Pennypack creek in Frankford.
The avenue/neighborhood distinction seems to throw people off.
- Fox assumes Torresdale Avenue is the same as Torresdale
- Fox confuses Frankford Avenue with Frankford
- WHYY also can’t distinguish Frankford Avenue from Frankford
But knowing that Frankford Avenue and Ashburner Street intersection isn’t in Frankford is pretty simple.

Yes, that's the Upper Holmesburg flag right next to the street signs.
First, Pennypack Park isn’t in Frankford. Second, there are nice, green flags literally at that intersection that say Holmesburg. Or more specifically, Upper Holmesburg, since the creek divides the two neighborhoods.
Which means all it would have taken for NBC to report this correctly was to look at the flag. You know, the one that’s right next to the street signs they were able to notice. That’s just laziness.
Kudos to Holme Circle resident Matt Gabor for pointing out this error!
Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast mag wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.

Who the fuck cares? More proof that people from NE Philly are the most insecure people in the world, if I may slander my own kind.
Johnny,
It does seem a little insecure, but it’s more about holding the media accountable. If a citywide news outlet doesn’t have the most basic knowledge about the regions (not just the Northeast), they’re doing the city a disservice.
Insecure? What does this have to do with insecurity? They are pointing out a simple mistake made by the media. Shannon is right, it’s about basic knowledge of the area.
Not only all that but if they looked behind they would have seen the sign for the “Holmesburg shopping center”.
