Former firefighter Gerard Shaffer was arrested in April and charged — along with his son — with third degree murder in the beating death of Mark Wallace.
Now, as Shaffer awaits his trial, he’s been allowed to return home on house arrest.
Shaffer and his son allegedly beat Wallace at Knights and Fairdale roads after the father and son got into an argument with Wallace, who crossed in front of the pair’s car while he was walking.
Shaffer was initially jailed with $100,000 bail, but the bail has since be reduced to $50,000, despite objection from the District Attorney’s office, according to a report by Fox29. He will remain on house arrest until his trial next year.
What exactly does ‘like’ mean in this context? Three people like that they were released?
This eans 3 people liked the report, not they liked that the accused murderer got out.
Dear Readers: I noticed on the Fox news blog page, an entry from a young lady named Daniellie Watson and I would like to respond. What happend was no Misunderstanding nor Mistake, This was as repoted, a brutal attack in day light with many, many witnesses which reported collectively that this was an intentional beating. The Shaffers have a past criminal history of violence. The father beats his wife. The son raped a little girl when he was a younger boy. The poor mother I can not imagine how she could allow this criminal to go home. She will need help in dealing with this horrible man. you can not supprot these kinds of people. you may know them and maybe even like them but they commited a serious crime, this man, Mr. Wallace died as a result of this beating! That is murder little girl. Mr. Wallaces wife and family have alot to get through. This is not how any civilized society should act. Road rage is what this is and murder is the result. the police department arrested two mean, nasty evil people and the neighbors are scared as they should be, there is alot ob bad history on this street with Shaffer. The little girl who lives in the shaffer house needs protection along with the Mom they have had too much violence in their life. Little girl, keep your comments to yourself and learn how to spell.

An accused is just that, an acused. In this country a person is innocent until lawfully proven guilty. Bail con not used as an instrument to keep an acused in prison. Shaffer has the right to be out on house arrest, which is no gem. The neighbors should have a watchful eye on the accused, as temptation will increase as time passes to leave the house. The devoted sister of Wallace should be concerend about her comments against the Criminal Justice system. Our system is not perfect but it is good, it just works slow to insure that those found guilty are in fact guilty. As the sister suggested, we can not take the criminal Justice System into our own hands, as all hell would break loose. When a family is confronted with this kind of crime no matter how many times in one (1) life time, we absolutely must allow the system to work and not complain that, “I have a life too live.” All should know that Wallace did have a wife, who through all of this as I understand has been treated with much disrespect and contempt by members of the wallace clan. The system will work, Justice will be served and punishment will be dealt out.
