Real NEastate: Morrell Park or Parkwood? 1

Q: I am looking for a home in the Far Northeast in my price range, up to $190,000, and I am torn between two neighborhoods. I like Parkwood and Morrell Park. I’ve found a home I like in each neighborhood. How do I decide?

A: My mother lives in Morrell Park and I bought my home in Parkwood. I looked in both neighborhoods for my home. Although there are some features that are a little different in terms of the homes’ features, in my mind, there’s not much difference between the neighborhoods. You can find a great home in either neighborhood for $190,000.

Interesting facts for you to ponder:

1. Morrell Park’s average median price of homes sold in the last four months was almost $5,000 more than Parkwood.
2. Parkwood sold over 20 more homes in the last four months than Morrell Park.

Which house do you like better? If the houses stack up the same for you, then take a look around to see which neighborhood works best for you and your family. They may not be much different in terms of your commute to work, but are the schools much different?

Go scout out the neighborhoods around both houses. Drive through at different times of the day, during the week, and on weekends. Both neighborhoods have parts that more desirable than others, as is reflected in the prices.

Good Luck!
