More than 75 people took to the street on Saturday morning, and with brooms, rakes and shovels in work-gloved hands, cleaned up Rising Sun Avenue from Adams to Cottman avenues.

The volunteers, including those from Pilgrim Baptist Church, Crescentville Baptist Church, St. William Roman Catholic Church, the Rising Sun Avenue Business Association, the Burholme Business Association, the Burholme Civic Association, the Lawncrest Community Association, Boy Scout Troop 160, Heavy Hittas Boxing, Philadelphia Councilwoman Marion Tasco’s office and The Philadelphia Protestant Home, filled trash bags with litter and recyclable materials. After a full morning’s work, the group met at the Lawncrest Recreation Center for pizza.
