Krispy Kreme opens today in Fox Chase 7

The long-awaited return of Krispy Kreme to Philadelphia is finally here.
Today at 6 a.m., Krispy Kreme will open at 7855 Oxford Ave. in Fox Chase. Aside from freshly made doughnut, the new Krispy Kreme — Philadelphia’s flagship store — will also sell a variety of coffee, iced drinks, muffins and bagels.

Just rode past the KK on The R8. Lots of people in the lot. There were also at least 2 protesters. They were holding a very large banner saying “boycott Krispy Kreme, they hurt our community”. I wonder what they are referring to?
Those who would protest Krispy Kreme and similar establishments have waaaaay too much time on their hands. Perhaps a nice hobby, like stamp collecting or knitting, would keep them occupied.
I stopped by with my two kids around 10am today (9 Nov). The place was packed. The line snaked out the door and the drive-thru lane had to be extended down the parking lane of Oxford Ave (with traffic cones).
My kids loved watching the doughnuts being made, of course. Balloons and hats all around. My 11-yr-old son (who, like his father, is a doughnut fiend) remembers the KK on Cottman which closed when he was 6. “Finally!,” he exclaimed as he noshed on his first hot glazed, “a Krispy Kreme doughnut again!”
A good time was had by all.
This is great!
Maybe hurting the small bakery that everyone grew up with. You know maybe your neighbor who owned that bakery ? Product at K.K. , well let’s say S’ ”ks. This is like the 3rd time this company has invaded Philly, with no doubt will be, GONE in 1 year.
Between the giant WaWa and now this place the already bad traffic in this area is much worse. I can’t get to the Hop Angel Brauhaus, someplace really worth going to.
The people that are protesting are Union scumbags that protest anyt establishment (ex-Walmart) that isn’t union. Screw these Union losers and everybody buy doughnuts at Krispy Kreme. Note to all Union losers that protest – this is America and companies are not forced to hire union workers.
