Come the end of March, an IT disposal facility will open on Decatur Road. Run by Materials Processing Corp., the facility will take on corporate clients’ discarded computers and other information technology equipment. As the Inquirer reports, the state gave the Minnesota-based company $230,000 for the 111,000-square-foot space. It’s expected to bring in $15 million pounds of waste in its first year.

  1. Tim Kearney says:

Disposal of computer equipment involves handling and disposal of numerous harmful metals and chemicals. I hope the neighbors, the City Health Dept., the media, and the depleted state Dept. of environmental protection monitor this company. We do not need a new brownfield on Decatur Road. Perhaps it should be located in Chestnut Hill or Society Hill or East Falls.
