Effective next Monday, SPIN, Inc. founder and CEO David Losinno will step down. Losinno founded Special People in the Northeast 41 years ago.

A release on the SPIN website says Losinno will act as CEO Emeritus until his June 30 retirement and be Corporate Board President until Dec. 31.

Currently Chief Program Officer Kathleen Brown McHale will become the agency’s second-ever CEO.

SPIN was honored in the fall as part of the Northeast Philadelphia Hall of Fame’s second class of inductees.

Part of the company’s statement reads:

Hundreds of people with disabilities, who were once institutionalized or at risk of being institutionalized, have full lives in the community because of Mr. Losinno’s work and hundreds more are employed. Thousands of children received their first learning experience in an integrated setting and hundreds of those children returned to the agency as adults to continue their development as either employees or individuals in service. Mr. Losinno created leaders at every level throughout his organization, including those with disabilities, and he inspired leaders in other organizations, universities and companies throughout the nation.”
