A priest working for St. Timothy’s in Mayfair and the Immaculate Mary Home in Holme Circle is among the 21 suspended by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for allegations of sexual abuse.

Among the 21 names, four have ties to Philadelphia parishes. Fr. Thomas Rooney is the only one with ties to the Northeast, but is the latest in a local list; priests and teachers from Our Lady of Calvary and St. Jerome face charges, as well.

these monsters should all be put to death by the families they harmed!! i would never want to go into a catholic church again because i would wonder the whole time…what was he doing right before mass and who is he doing after!! i along with many of my friends agree that they should be treated as any other rapist or molester…..actually treated worse since they cover up for eachother!! hope they enjoy hell!!!

What these men have done is unforgiveable and God will deal with them in time…..as for those who say they will never go back to a Catholic Church is absolutely a cop out!!!!!…..You are probably just too liberal to follow rules and traditions…..How sad is that…..I am PROUD of my Faith/Religion and would NEVER let anyone stand between me and my Love for the Catholic Church…God is too Good for me to ever turn my back on Him or the Catholic Faith, by the way which JESUS himself gave to all of us Sinners….Have a Blessed Day

as someone who attended catholic grade school and high school,i am toatally disgusted and embarrassed!!! how dare they betray the trust of all of those children and parents!!! I guess among the list of charges,prostitution should be one of them-since parents are basically paying the priests to have sex with their children!!! disgusting!!!

so i guess we are guilty until proven innocent…yes these accusations are appalling, but this is still America and we are INNOCENT until proven guilty. i want to reiterate that i do not condone what these men are acccused of.

May I begin by saying that I am, and will always be, VERY proud to be a Catholic . There are SO very many wonderful priests, these other monsters have made it difficult for all of us . Those who betrayed the sacred trust should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law . In my opinion, the “enablers” are almost worse than the actual offenders, as these predators could have been stopped much sooner had the ‘enablers’ done the right thing as soon as they knew there was a problem .
