Police officers are investigating an alleged rape in Pennypack Park early Wednesday morning.

A woman tells authorities she was walking on the 8200-block of Cresco Avenue around 2:45 a.m. when she was approached by a man who punched her and dragged her into the park near the concert stage.

The suspect also stole $20 from the woman before fleeing. He is described as white, 5’8″ to 5’10″ tall with reddish hair.

The victim was treated for a broken nose and cuts to her face.

WHAT WAS SHE DOING WALKING BY HERSELF AT 2:45 AM ON 8200 BLOCK OF CRESCO AVE. AROUND PENNYPACK PARK ANYWAY? LOOKING TO GET RAPED AND BEAT UP? SOUNDS FISHY TO ME. CHECK OUT SOME HER BOY FRIENDS…………

The fact that she was walking that time of day should not be an issue(meaning one should feel safe in ones neighborhood enough to do so; however, I live in a so called safer area and still don’t feel safe enough to walk alone at that time) The focus should be on the attacker who though it was ok to beat and rape someone at his own free will in his world lies the problem!

I a woman though you have to be intelligent about the situations you put yourself in. Walking around penny pack after a concert gets out at night is slightly freaky, and even then im usually with friends and surrounded by people. But to be walking out there alone, dang near to 3am and accepting rides from strange men is just outrageous. No one deserves to get raped, but lets not put ourselves in situations where its so obviously a possibility.
