Dog of the Week: Pretty 0
UPDATE 10/7/11 – ACCT tells us Pretty has been adopted.
Meet Pretty! (A13914279) Pretty is a medium-sized pit/terrier mix with a gorgeous fawn-colored coat. She weighs approximately 44 lbs., and is estimated to be between 6 and 12 months old. She is a happy, sweet girl who is looking for her new family.
Pretty loves everyone she meets and she is always wagging her tail with a smile on her face ready to give you some love. She is already working on her basic commands. She has excellent leash-walking skills, and passed all her advanced handling tests and food aggression test. She even let the handlers take the food away from her even though her head was still in the bowl and she was starving! She was dog-tested and passed with flying colors
Please come down to the shelter and meet our Pretty. She is a loving sweet girl who just needs a family to call her own. Won’t you give this love bug a chance at the life that she deserves?
Please contact her penpal at pittieluva AT gmail.com

Call me a killjoy
, but the descriptions of the animals which need homes don’t need to include anthropomorphizing to make them effective. Dogs never have smiles on their faces.
I love dogs, I think they are the absolute zenith of the pet enjoyment experience (exaggerate? me?), and I dearly wish my current circumstance allowed me to own one, but they do not smile.
But I am smiling as I write this because I think you have a great site and this is merely a minor nit to pick; keep up the good work!
To whom it may concern,
Just to clear things up. Your comment is appreciated glad to know someone is checking the pets out. The write ups for the dogs and cats are not done by NEPhilly.com authors. They are done by the volunteers of Philadalphia’s Animal Care and Control Team. The volunteers are just trying their best to do whatever they can to help the dogs and cats get adopted.
As for whether or not dogs smile, that’s still up for debate but here is an article that might help clear it up…
