St. Martha’s carnival raises funds for gym improvements 0

Oct17

St. Martha’s provided family entertainment while raising funds this past week. The parish held a fall carnival in its parking lot over several nights in order to raise funds for needed improvements to the school’s gymnasium.

According to CYO Director Rich Salamone, pastor Father Al approached parishioners to raise money for the revamping.

“We thought the quickest way to raise funds but also to get all the families involved and get the Parish to come together as one was a carnival,” said Salamone, who was also part of the class of 1986.

Community members planned the entire event in four months. The carnival, which ran from Oct. 1 to 15 , was fully equipped with all the markings of a traditional event. Members of the community were able to enjoy around a dozen amusement attractions and participate in carnival-style games.

“It’s great to be able to spend a few hours out while giving back to the parish,” Nicole Fox said.
Parish members manned the attractions, served food and complied gift basket raffles, as well. All proceeds from the carnival will go toward their gymnasium. Salamone said he is appreciative of all of the community members that came together to make the carnival a reality.

“I can only say thanks again to all the families there were involved,” Salamone said. “The St. Martha family has come together and they all should be proud.”
