The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced earlier this month that $318,000 in funding will help improve Pleasant Hill Park in East Torresdale.

“We’re very grateful for the DCNR Grant award for our Pleasant Hill Development Project and are eager to implement the funds into the riverfront public space,” said Michael DiBerardinis, Philadelphia’s deputy mayor of environmental and community resources. “The Pleasant Hill Park Master Plan integrates open space, education, and recreation seamlessly and the grant award will add to the final goal of providing excellent riverfront access to Philadelphians.”

The 35-acre park is tucked between Delaware Avenue and the Delaware River off of State Road and Linden Avenue. With new funding, the DCNR will help rehabilitate the park’s fish ponds, add walkways and improve fencing. The most noticeable improvement will be a new picnic area with a shade pavillion.
