A Somerton couple has been charged with theft of services and conspiracy to commit theft of services for allegedly lying about their residency to send their child to school in Montgomery County’s Lower Moreland School District.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office has charged the pair for costing the district more than $10,000 after a surveillance detail determined the child was not living at a grandparent’s address in the county, but appeared to live on Philmont Terrace in Somerton.

The family has a hearing next week in Willow Grove.

With all the crime and drug problems out there, why waste time and money on this couple? I’m embarassed to have read this.

Really the school wasted 10k to check if a child was really living with their grandparents. I don’t blame the parents for wanting to get out of the Philadelphia school system.

These guys got screwed over, cops don’t just do surviellance for shit like that. Also, the grandparents do pay school taxes right? But don’t have a kid, so the kid is covered. This is a lot more complicated than seen in this story.

Why would they do such a thing? Is there something wrong with Philly schools? For all the taxes Philly collects, they should have a superior system.

    Can’t blame them for trying.
