With a newly formed advisory council, all the Lawncrest Rec Center needs now is some volunteers for its first Community Day.

Established after a series of meetings through the PhillyRising collaborative, the advisory council was set up to bring the neighborhood together around the well-used rec center and improve the facility and its programs.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., PhillyRising will partner with La Salle University ro bring about two dozen students to the rec center to assist neighborhood participants in a Fall cleaning of sorts. The rec center will get a fresh coat of paint, a good scrubbing and fresh plants. Volunteers were sought at the Lawncrest Community Association meeting earlier this month, but more are wanted.

Lunch will be provided and no special skills are required to participate. Those interested can show up Saturday or sign up in advance by emailing lawncrestrecadvisory [AT] gmail [DOT] com, or by calling Brian Andrews at 215-685-0597.
