It was deja vu in Mayfair yesterday, where residents of the 4000-block of Aldine Street once again had their tires slashed. The same thing happened a week ago, on the same block.
Last week, Mayfair Town Watch President Milt Martelack said the incident was evidence of “very serious issues with widespread vandalism” in the neighborhood. continue reading »

A week after two dozen Mayfair residents awoke to find their cars vandalized, others discovered the same.
Neighbors along the 4000-block of Aldine Street had their cars vandalized overnight into Sunday morning, Mayfair Town Watch President Milt Martelack said.
In light of incidents over the last two weekends, Martelack said the neighborhood has been having “very serious issues with widespread vandalism.” continue reading »

A Philadelphia Police Officer associated with the 2nd District has pleaded guilty to stealing from a supposed panhandler.
Kevin Workman has been sentenced to three years’ probation for stealing from a woman he thought was a panhandler. She was actually an undercover police officer. continue reading »

Northeast Detectives are on the hunt for a suspect wanted in a series of robberies, the most recent of which took place in Holme Circle.
On Jan. 25, the suspect held up the pharmacist at Circle Pharmacy on the 2800-block of Holme Avenue, fleeing the scene with multiple medications. He was last seen around 7 p.m. jumping over the fence at the rear of the property, and is wanted for several other robberies that began Dec. 10. continue reading »

Former 15th District Police Office Kenneth Crockett has been sentenced to probation after being convicted in October of stealing from Pat’s Cafe in Northwood.
Crockett was charged in July with stealing $825 from the bar following a police investigation. The Walton Park resident and two other officers were at the bar after an unfounded burglary call nearby. The other officers were cleared. continue reading »

Police have arrested a Northeast man in connection with a series of South Philadelphia robberies.
Poncho Spicer of the 1100-block of Fanshawe Street in Castor Gardens, is charged with robbery and related offenses for stick-ups that took place inside the garage of the Marine Club Condominiums. Spicer, 47, was arrested after the first robbery took place in September but was later released. More robberies took place in December and January.
Spicer will appear in court Feb, 7 and is held on $1.5 million bail.

Friday - Police continue their search for the masked suspects who killed a Tacony storeowner during an armed robbery Friday. Xiang Huang, 27, was shot inside Jin House, the Chinese store and takeout restaurant he owned with wife Jin Huang at Longshore Avenue and Tulip Street. Xiang was killed in front of his wife and baby daughter, and also leaves behind two other young daughters.

Police arrested three suspects over the weekend for the fatal beating death of 23-year-old Kevin Kless. One of the suspects, 20-year-old Steven Ferguson, is from Fox Chase.
Ferguson, of the 1100-block of Solly Avenue, was arrested alongside Felix Crarillo of North Philadelphia and Kenneth Santiago of Juniata for Kless’ Jan. 14 death. continue reading »

A status hearing is scheduled for March 1 as Yvonne Hiller awaits her fate on charges connected with the fatal shootings inside the Kraft factory on Roosevelt Boulevard in September 2010.
Hiller is charged with killing 36-year-old LaTonya Brown and 47-year-old Tanya Wilson, and injuring 39-year-old Bryant Dalton inside their offices. continue reading »

UPDATE, Jan. 19 — Police have arrested Brandon Shields in connection with multiple bank robberies in the 2nd and 15th districts.
Philadelphia Police and the FBI are looking for a suspect believed to be responsible for robberies on Castor and Frankford avenues.
Most recently, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the Citizens Bank at 6537 Castor Ave. Jan. 6. In a similar incident Dec. 7, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the PNC Bank at 6855 Frankford Ave. In both cases, the suspect gave the teller a threatening note and fled on foot.
