The 8th Police District’s April PDAC meeting was held on Wednesday, April 6. As usual, the membership came out in great numbers to partner with our police. At this meeting, five police officers were honored with Officer of the Month awards. Presentations were made by PDAC President, Mr. Harry Sonntag, supported by his executive board and TD Bank representatives. continue reading »

As a result of increased burglaries in the Far Northeast, the 8th Police District Advisory Council invites 8th District residents and businesses to attend a Burglary Seminar Luncheon on Tuesday, April 19th at 11:30 a.m. at Torresdale Frankford Country Club, 3801 Grant Avenue (at Frankford Avenue), Philadelphia 19114.  Captain Deborah Kelly will share valuable tips to prevent your home or business from becoming the next burglary victim while enjoying a FREE lunch.

High turnout for first 8th District Burglary Seminar 0

The first in a series of monthly Burglary Seminar/Luncheons hosted by the 8th PDAC was a huge success on Monday at Cannstatter’s Volksfest-Verein, with a combination of 65 residents and businesses in attendance.

Unfortunately, because of the overwhelming response and financial restrictions, the acceptance of additional reservations had to be discontinued a week prior to the event.  continue reading »

Rudolph Muller was at last night’s Upper Holmesburg Civic Association to introduce himself as the new 8th District Community Relations Officer to the nearly 100 people in attendance. But he also came with good news: two of three men wanted in connection with the CVS robbery and shootout earlier this week have been caught.

The 8th Police District has announced the appointment of a new community relations officer. Officer Rudolph Muller as assumed the position, with former CRO Harry Taylor left after taking  another position in the district.

Northeast police districts fare well in Daily News investigation 0

The process was simple: reporters from the Daily News went to each of the 21 police districts in the city and asked to file and anonymous complaint — as is the department’s policy.

Not all the districts were compliant, and some were downright aggressive in requesting ID, but the four districts in the Northeast turned in positive reports. continue reading »

8th District meetings canceled Wednesday, Feb. 2 0

The 8th District has announced the cancelation of two meetings scheduled for tomorrow night. Capt. Deborah Kelly’s Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. and the PDAC meeting at 7 p.m. are canceled due to weather.

The District has not yet decided if Thursday’s PSA 3 meeting will be canceled. We’ll bring you updates as they come in.

At last night’s Upper Holmesburg Civic Association meeting, Edward Vassallo of the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management gave useful tips for how to prepare for an emergency that may call for an evacuation or shelter in place. He cited Tuesday’s explosion in Tacony as the type of event resident need to be ready for. continue reading »
