Twenty children were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon following a bus accident.  A sedan rear-ended the school bus the children were on on their way home from school at Castor Avenue and Benner Street. Three people were injured early yesterday morning after their vehicle crashed into several parked cars.

Just before 1:30 a.m., the vehicle crashed into parked cars along Castor Avenue near Benner Street, sending two people to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver has been charged with DUI.

Officers of the 2nd District were reportedly forced to open fire on a robbery suspect in Oxford Circle early this morning.

After robbing a 7-Eleven, the suspect fled in a truck, which police followed. He then crashed the vehicle on the 6000-block of Oxford Avenue and continued fleeing on foot. Investigators are still examining what led an officer to open fire on the 1000-block of Benner Street.

The suspect was taken to Einstein Medical Center with unknown injuries, and his weapon was recovered from this truck.

A 34-year-old man was shot dead Tuesday morning on Oxford Avenue.

James Haywood of Oxford Circle, was shot several times in the stomach around 11 a.m. yesterday on Oxford Avenue near Benner Street. He was pronounced dead 45 minutes later at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Police are still investigating the shooting.
