One person is dead following two car accidents Saturday night during Hurricane Irene.

Police are investigating the cause of an accident that left a pregnant woman and her unborn child dead.

Friday — The man police believe is responsible for several 7-Eleven robberies since Sept. 2009 made an appearance Friday at a Tacony 7-Eleven. But instead of robbing it again, he offered the clerk a wad of cash and apologized for taking the money in the past. The suspect (between 21 and 25 with short dark hair and a medium build), fled after the clerk told him to leave and pushed the police button. When a van and a school bus were involved in an accident yesterday afternoon, the driver of the van fled.
Police say the driver took off after the two vehicles collided just before 1 p.m. at Castor and Longshore avenues. continue reading »

We received a notice a short time ago from ReadyNotifyPA about an accident on the 4400-block of Tolbut Street in Upper Holmesburg.
A 6-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle and sustained head injuries. He was rushed to Aria Health Torresdale, where he’s in critical condition. The driver stayed on the scene.

Friday – A fight outside Lincoln High School Friday afternoon left two police officers with minor injuries. The officers were trying to stop an argument between a group of teenage girls outside the school around 3:15 p.m, when they requested backup due to the large crowd.
The officers were treated at the hospital for minor injuries, and more than five students were arrested. There’s no word yet on what led to the fight. continue reading »

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Sunday night while walking near Oxford Circle and Roosevelt Boulevard.
The 32-year-old man was struck around 9:30 p.m. at the Boulevard and Oxford Avenue, and was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. continue reading »

Saturday — A Castor Gardens family escaped uninjured from a home invasion Saturday morning. Three men entered a home on the 1200-block of Fanshawe Street, where the suspects tied the family up and demanded money.
It’s unclear how much money the men got, if any, but they did leave with the family’s Honda Civic. There’s been no word of an arrest. continue reading »
