The elderly driver of an SUV crashed into a Somerton Burger King yesterday morning.
The driver, 80, struck the side of the Burger King at Bustleton Avenue and Hendrix Street at the Leo Mall before his car stopped in the drive-thru.
He was taken to the hospital shortly after 8 a.m. with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported, and police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Saturday — A multi-vehicle car accident shut down a portion of northbound I-95 just between Cottman Avenue and Academy Road. As many as six cars were involved, and three people were hospitalized following the accident, which happened around 7:30 p.m.
A watermain break shut down portions of Cottman and Rising Sun avenues in Burholme yesterday. The 20-inch break, which occurred on the 7200-block of Oakley Street, was discovered around 5 a.m. Several thousand gallons of water poured into the street, though no one in the neighborhood lost water. The areas shut down were:
- Cottman Avenue between Oxford Avenue and Oakley Street
- Rising Sun Avenue between St. Vincent Street and Cottman Avenue

Authorities are investigating the details surrounding a multiple-car crash last night that involved a police car.
According to reports, a driver struck a car around Tyson and Bustleton avenues around 10 p.m., then continued on Tyson Avenue toward Roosevelt Boulevard, where he hit two more cars and a police cruiser.
No injuries were reported, and the driver is in police custody.

Four people were injured this morning in two unrelated accidents.
At 10 a.m., a man driving a stolen van through Tacony hit SEPTA’s 56 bus at Torresdale Avenue and Knorr Street. At least one person has been hospitalized, but it’s still unclear if the suspect has been arrested.
Just an hour later, an elderly woman hit two men who were doing work along the road near Byberry Road and Depue Avenue in Somerton. The driver and the two workers were taken to Aria Health-Torresdale.

Three people were injured early yesterday morning after their vehicle crashed into several parked cars.
Just before 1:30 a.m., the vehicle crashed into parked cars along Castor Avenue near Benner Street, sending two people to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver has been charged with DUI.

Police are investigating what caused a fatal accident at a Bustleton home yesterday afternoon.
A man, 78, and his wife, 82, were returning from the supermarket to their home on the 9700-block of Chapelcroft Street. The man got out to unload the groceries when the couple’s SUV backed over him in the driveway.
The man was pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale, and while authorities continue to investigate the incident, there is no foul play suspected.

An early morning car accident in Frankford yesterday caused road closures due to down electrical lines. Now the driver responsible faces DUI charges.
Around 5 a.m., 48-year-old Francis Kochmer rear-ended another vehicle with his car, sending the other car into a utility pole at Frankford and Torresdale avenues. Kochmer, of the 800-block of Brighton Street, was treated for minor injuries at Hahnemann, and no other injuries were reported.
Kochmer now faces DUI charges for the accident.

A three-vehicle accident near Modena Tuesday night left one person dead.
Reports say two friends were driving in two separate vehicles on the northbound lanes of the 9800-block of Academy Road around 10:45 p.m. The friends, who were driving next to each other, suddenly collided with a vehicle in the southbound lanes. continue reading »

A multiple-vehicle car accident on Roosevelt Boulevard sent at least five people to the hospital Wednesday night.
The accident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. in the inner southbound lanes near Harbison Avenue. Early reports said one victim was an adult female, and three are children, but NEast Philly’s attempts to confirm these facts have not been verified.
