Police in the 8th District has a busy weekend tracking gruesome discoveries in two different parks.
Sunday, a body was found floating in the creek of Poquessing Valley Park in Parkwood. The body of the young Latino male was found around 1 p.m. off the 3500-block of Vinton Road. Authorities don’t believe the death is suspicious. continue reading »

An unidentified man was found unresponsive early Saturday morning in the middle of a Rhawnhurst street.
Though reports are conflicting (listing the man’s age as early 20s and early 40s), police said the man was found on the 1700-block of Bleigh Avenue around 4 a.m. Saturday. He had suffered trauma to his head and body, but the cause of death is still under investigation.
Those who think they may have information surrounding the incident are urged to call the police department’s homicide division at 215-686-3334 or 3335.

Shoppers at Franklin Mills Mall discovered a body yesterday in the bushes near Liberty Plaza parking lot.
The lot, along Franklin Mills Boulevard and Woodhaven Road, is across from Raymour and Flanigan.
Police have identified the body as that of a 29-year-old Philadelphia man, and have determined he has been dead for at least two days. Foul play is not suspected, but the autopsy is still underway. The man’s identity will be released pending notification of his family.
