A Northwood man has been arrested for the March shooting deaths of two North Philadelphia teenagers. Thirty-one-year-old Christopher Lloyd Butler of the 1300-block of Filmore Street is one of two suspects charged with murder [Action News].
An early morning fire in Torresdale Tuesday appears to be intentional. Authorities believe a man set fire to his car on the 3500-block of Primrose Street around 1:30 a.m. after a domestic dispute. The fire spread to the home and caused significant damage [CBS3]. continue reading »

Police critically wounded the man who tried to rob the Pantry 1 Food Mart and the 7-Eleven early Thursday along the 5300-block of Harbison Avenue. An officer fired when the suspect allegedly pointed a gun [CBS3].
Also in the 15th District, police are looking for two men involved in a shooting at Leiper and Foulkrod streets. A 53-year-old man was shot in the hand and hip early Wednesday, suffering non-life-threatening injuries [Action News]. continue reading »

Three people were injured Wednesday morning in a Morrell Park fire. It took firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze on the 3200-block of Cromwell Road, and three residents – including a toddler – were taken to Aria Health-Torresdale for smoke inhalation [CBS3].

A $7,500 reward has been offered for the suspects wanted in the recent Mayfair tire slashings. The Fraternal Order of Police has offered $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and $2,500 for and arrest and conviction [Philadelphia Police Department].

Three people, including two firefighters, were injured Monday in a midday blaze in the 3600-block of Genesee Drive.
Firefighters arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m. to find heavy smoke billowing from the second-story windows. The flames were under control in less than an hour, but not before three people were injured. continue reading »

A blaze on the 2600-block of Welsh Road led to the city's first fire fatality of the year.
Officials from the American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Fire Department spent yesterday afternoon on a safety mission after a fire claimed a man’s life Tuesday on the 2600-block of Welsh Road.
During the fire safety walk-through, residents of the apartment complex where the fire broke out, and those in nearby homes, were given fire safety kits and smoke detectors. The kits include smoke detector batteries and information on fire safety and prevention. continue reading »

Friday – Police have some questions for a man found in Frankford Friday night with firearms and grenades, according to a West Frankford Town Watch alert. Responders arrived on the 1300-block of Harrison Street for a fire alarm call when they found a suspicious man and discovered the weapons. An Academy Gardens man sustained critical injuries yesterday in a house fire.
Crews arrived to a home on the 9200-block of Woodenbridge Road Monday around 8 a.m. where smoke was pouring from the second-story windows. It only took firefighters about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, but the man was rushed to Aria Health-Torresdale to be treated for smoke inhalation and body burns.

Firefighters took extra precaution early Saturday morning when they were called to battle a blaze in Tacony. Crews arrived on the 7100-block of Cottage Street around 12:30 a.m., where four people were on the roof of a home calling for help. continue reading »

Friday – Lifeguards came to the rescue Friday night in Torresdale, where a young girl nearly drowned. Two lifeguards at the Torresdale Boys Club pool on Linden Avenue pulled the 4-year-old from the water when one noticed her struggling. The girl was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale in stable condition after one of the lifeguards performed CPR. continue reading »
