UPDATE: The third victim has been identified as 17-year-old Christopher Alcalde of Summerdale and a Northeast High School tennis player. He and the driver were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Authorities have identified the driver of a Wednesday night crash that killed three people near Franklin Mills Mall.
According to reports, Anthony Christensen of Bensalem, Bucks County was speeding when the car hit a barrier and flipped over on the 900-block of Franklin Mills Circle. The female passenger has been identified as Lucrecia Santamaria. continue reading »

What are Philadelphians searching for on Google?
In 2011, it was mostly about SEPTA. The transit authority was the most popular search query in the region this year, followed by the Philadelphia School District and Pa. unemployment.
But the seventh-most searched term on Google for this year was Franklin Mills Mall. Technically Philly broke down the data from Google’s annual Zeitgeist report, which takes the pulse of a region based on search queries. continue reading »

FRIDAY — One person died in a Summerdale fire early Friday morning. Crews spent an hour extinguishing the blaze on the 4700-block of Roosevelt Boulevard, and discovered a man’s body inside after the smoke and flames had been put out. continue reading »

With all the different types of jobs available for women, the current economy notwithstanding, I began to wonder how many women are happy with their jobs and how many despise the alarm clock for the wakeup call every day.
So what is the ideal job for our ladies of the Northeast? The answer: whatever makes you not wish away your working day and whatever you can enjoy and feel good about yourself for doing.
Whether you are a mechanic, nurse, lawyer, electrician, teacher, office worker, bus driver, small business owner or homemaker, if you can enjoy your job, you’ve it made. Of the 25 women I spoke with at Franklin Mills Mall, only three said they like their jobs. I found it disheartening that so few of the women I questioned like their career or job. continue reading »

Two men robbed the Diamond Depot in Franklin Mills Mall Sunday morning, leaving with $80,000 to $100,000 worth of jewelry.
The men entered the store just before noon, wearing masks. They smashed a display case and stole in contents, then ran into the parking lot. According to reports, the men fled in a silver Dodge minivan.

Escaped convict Oscar Alvarado has been captured as of Monday.
Kamilah Alvarado, 22, Dean Ortiz, 33, and Crysta Otto, 27, of Barnett Street near Erdrick, in Mayfair, face charges for holding up the apprehension of the escaped convict by hiding him inside a Motor Inn in Trevose. Alvarado is accused of murdering a woman in October 2008.
