Saturday – A 19-year-old man was hospitalized early Saturday evening after being shot by police in Frankford. Officers encountered the man on the 4900-block of Griscom Street around 7:30 p.m., and noticed a gun in his waistband.
After running to a vacant lot, the man pulled his gun, and was shot by the officers. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital after being hit once in the back. Police recovered the weapon.

Police have released the identities of the two men who died Sunday night in a car accident on Roosevelt Boulevard and Haldeman Avenue.
The driver, 21-year-old Witchy Louis of the 7200-block of Souder Street, and his friend, 20-year-old Shahariar Ahmed Rabbi of the 7100-block of Kindred Street, were killed when their Toyota Camry rear-ended a flatbed truck and became stuck.
The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

Two people were killed and one injured in two separate car accidents over night.
The first happened around 8:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard between Haldeman Avenue and Comly Road. The driver of the vehicle rear-ended a flatbed truck, leaving the car’s two male passengers trapped inside. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and traffic in the northbound lanes was closed until the accident was cleared. continue reading »
