“Very busy time” for zoning in Tacony, says board member 0

Lou Iataroloa had less than an hour to zip through a dozen active zoning issues in Tacony at Tuesday’s civic association meeting.

Before 15th District Capt. Frank Bachmayer took the floor at 8 p.m. for his town hall meeting, the association board had an hour to review old business, new business and upcoming meetings.

The zoning issues involved a variety of issues, including illegal duplexes and auto body shops. The rundown Iatarola, a TCA board member, is below. For pending permits and variances, neighbors living within 500 feet of the properties in question will receive a notice prior to the TCA’s meeting and the Zoning Board of Adjustment hearing. continue reading »

The man who allegedly shot 22-year-old Rachel Marcelis has been arrested. Michael Elliot, 25, of the 6100-block of Hegerman Street, is the suspect in the shooting of Marcelis early Wednesday outside of Fat Pete’s Bar on the corner of Torresdale and Devereaux. He was showing off his gun when it allegedly went off, according to police.

UPDATE – Jose Miranda was arrested in his home at G and Westmoreland streets in Kensington, and has been charged with indecent assault, aggravated assault and related offenses.

A man suspected of raping a Wissinoming woman is also being sought for crashing his vehicle into eight cars.

A woman on the 5800-block of Ditman Street reported to the police around 6:30 yesterday morning that she been raped. Police said the suspect fled the scene, hitting eight cars on the 6100-block of Hegerman Street as he drove away, then continued fleeing on foot. continue reading »
