Crash-iconA 10-year-old boy in Northwood is in critical condition at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike.

The boy was riding around the intersection of Horrocks and Herbert streets around 7:45 p.m. when the driver of a black Dodge Charger struck him and fled the scene.

No further details have been released.

newsSaturday — A Castor Gardens family escaped uninjured from a home invasion Saturday morning. Three men entered a home on the 1200-block of Fanshawe Street, where the suspects tied the family up and demanded money.

newsFriday — Police questioned an Academy Gardens man Friday night in connection with an early evening hit and run. A 13-year-old boy was struck at Frankford Avenue and Academy Road around 6:30 p.m. Friday. Based off a description of the vehicle and the driver, police were able to track down a question a man on the 9300-block of Cloverly Road. The boy was treated at Aria Health-Torresdale and is in stable condition. No word on whether an arrest has been made. continue reading »

William Hollaran was sentenced in 2004 to one to two year in prison, plus an addition three to six year for homicide after being found guilty in the Wissinoming hit-and-run accident that killed young Peter Roberto. Hollaran was supposed to serve his terms back to back, but was released early because of a clerical error. Peter’s parents are fighting to get the laws changed so that the minimum sentence is stricter, as reported when Dolores Roberto spoke to Senators Mike Stack, John C. Rafferty, and Larry Farnese at Nazareth Hospital on March 12.

caraccidentThe driver of a stolen car is still missing this afternoon, after fleeing the scene of an early morning crash.

Police say the driver collided with another car around 12:30 this morning on the 6700-block of Eastwood Street. A person in the other car was injured when the vehicle was pushed onto the sidewalk from the impact.

The drive of the stolen vehicle took off on foot, and remains at large.

Police arrested 39-year-old Michael Saunders early this morning. Reports say Saunders hit a 21-year-old female with his car as he attempted to leave Albert’s Cafe on Grant Avenue around 2:30 this morning. The woman is reportedly the girlfriend of a man Saunders had been arguing with in the parking lot. continue reading »

UPDATE - Police are looking for 22-year-old Shawn Timbers of the 1200-block of Alcott Street in Oxford Circle. He is considered to be a person of interest in the case. Kaitlyn, whose abdomen was rolled over by the car, has been updated to good condition, from critical.

An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident in Tacony last night.

Daiheem Rhodes was crossing the 7000-block of Keystone Street on his bike when he was hit by a car, whose driver didn’t stop. The boy’s mother found a Ford hubcab in the street, but investigators have few details of the vehicle. Neighbors who witnessed the accident said the driver was speeding, but the formal investigation is not complete.

Rhodes, a sixth grader, is in intensive care at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and doctors are hoping to release him in a few days.
