Krispy Kreme’s Fox Chase location will hold a Family Night tonight, complete with free doughnuts for the kids.
Every kid in attendance will get a free glazed doughnut to customize in Krispy Kreme’s dipping station, and to enjoy while watching the magic show or taking in story time. A coloring station will be set up, and stickers and removable tattoos will be available for kids to express themselves with.
Stop by between 6 and 8 p.m.

Krispy Kreme Philadelphia is hosting a contest to give away 300 dozen doughnuts to selected community groups in the tri-state area, which includes Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware. The company will give away 100 dozen doughnuts to three organizations, one in each respective state as part of its Krispy Kreme FUNdraising effort.
To participate in the FUNdraising contest, visit the contest page to register and fill out the entry form. Entry forms will also be available at the Fox Chase store.
In 100 words or less, answer, “Why should Krispy Kreme Philly donate 100 dozen doughnuts to your organization?” Submit responses no later than midnight on Friday, Feb. 25.

ON THE MAIN STREET of a little neighborhood sitting on the edge of Philadelphia’s border bleeding into suburbia, a once popular pastry factory is resurrecting its namesake and the hot glazed doughnut.
Standing underneath the “HOT NOW” sign on the front lawn, standing amid gorging customers and intrigued blue suits on a soft Fall morning yesterday, the store’s owners are joined by a councilman, a cop, a general manager and a CEO — each placing a hand on the oversized novelty scissors and cutting the long, red tape in front of a small, pale-brick box of sugar and spice.

The long-awaited return of Krispy Kreme to Philadelphia is finally here.
Today at 6 a.m., Krispy Kreme will open at 7855 Oxford Ave. in Fox Chase. Aside from freshly made doughnut, the new Krispy Kreme — Philadelphia’s flagship store — will also sell a variety of coffee, iced drinks, muffins and bagels. continue reading »

Nearly 40 people were on hand for last night’s meeting of the Fox Chase Homeowners Association and Town Watch meeting, and residents brought their lists of neighborhood concerns.
601 Rhawn St. The home at 601 Rhawn St. next to St. Cecilia’s Church has been for sale, and Councilman Brian O’Neill was at last night’s meeting to address rumors of what the buyers plan for their new home. O’Neill’s office has received letters stating the new owners have plans to convert the home to a Buddhist temple. Though O’Neill said he’s unsure of the owners’ intentions, he assured neighbors the property is not zoned for such use. continue reading »
