Friday - Police continue their search for the masked suspects who killed a Tacony storeowner during an armed robbery Friday. Xiang Huang, 27, was shot inside Jin House, the Chinese store and takeout restaurant he owned with wife Jin Huang at Longshore Avenue and Tulip Street. Xiang was killed in front of his wife and baby daughter, and also leaves behind two other young daughters.

Police arrested three suspects over the weekend for the fatal beating death of 23-year-old Kevin Kless. One of the suspects, 20-year-old Steven Ferguson, is from Fox Chase.

Ferguson, of the 1100-block of Solly Avenue, was arrested alongside Felix Crarillo of North Philadelphia and Kenneth Santiago of Juniata for Kless’ Jan. 14 death. continue reading »

UPDATE: The victim in the car has been identified at 25-year-old Landis Carter of the 2300-block of Tremont Street.

Police in the 2nd and 7th Districts are busy today searching for suspects in two separate incidents that took place early this morning.

Around 1:30 a.m., a teenager delivering pizza was robbed and stabbed by a group of three males on the 6100-block of Belden Street in Oxford Circle. Five hours later, police in the 7th District were called to the Plaza Towers Apartments on the 2300-block of Tremont Street where a man was shot in his car. continue reading »

Police are looking for suspects in a shooting that left a man dead in Frankford Friday night.

Officers discovered a man on the 2000-block of Wilmot Street just before 8 p.m. after responding to calls of a shooting. The victim was found on the ground with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, and was pronounced dead a short time later at Temple University Hospital.

Authorities have arrested the teenager wanted in connection with the shooting death of Bustleton’s Mohan Varughese.

Jeffrey Little, 19, was arrested Friday afternoon with help from an anonymous tipster. Police were seeking Little for the May 9 homicide of Vaughese, who was shot when Little allegedly demanded that Vaughese hand over his motorcycle. continue reading »

Police have identified the suspect wanted in connection with last week’s shooting death of Bustleton resident Mohan Varughese.

Authorities are looking for 19-year-old Jeffrey Little of the 2100-block of N. Marvine Street. Little, who also goes by “Norman,” is described as 5’9″ tall, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He has several tattoos, including “Gail” on his left forearm and “RIP Katie” on his neck. continue reading »

Police have identified the man who was shot and killed for his motorcycle Monday in North Philadelphia. Mohan Varughese, a 23-year-old Bustleton resident, died Monday afternoon from multiple gunshot wounds.

Varughese was reportedly sitting on the front steps of a home on the 2200-block of North Camac Street with his girlfriend, a Temple University student, when a man came by with a gun and demanded the keys. When Varughese didn’t act quickly enough, the man fired three times. continue reading »

Friday — Two the causes of two Thursday fires are under investigation.

Around 10:30 a.m., a woman was rescued from a fire on the 8900-block of Frankford Avenue. She reportedly suffered severe burns over 60 percent of her body. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.

A ruptured gas line sparked a blaze that night on the 1400-block of Creston Street. PECO, PGW and fire officials were able to stablize the scene and put the fire out. continue reading »

Police have identified the man who died Wednesday night in West Philadelphia as a 40-year-old Burholme resident. Joseph Pinkney of the 7400-block of Rockwell Avenue was shot in the chest around 8 p.m. Wednesday on the 5100-block of Race Street, and was pronounced dead a short time later at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
