Friday – A 74-year-old woman died Friday morning after being struck by a car in Holmesburg.

The woman was crossing Frankford  Avenue traffic on the 7700-block where she was picking up a rental car when she was struck. Authorities are trying to determine if the driver, who stopped, will be charged. continue reading »

Friday – A man was pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale after his body was dumped from a car near a Tacony cemetery Friday. The 41-year-old may have died of a drug overdose, and was found along the 6400-block of Cottage Street by Magnolia Cemetery around 4 p.m. Police later arrested the driver.

Police have charged a Somerton chiropractor with with indecently assaulting a 69-year-old female patient. Christopher Walcott, 43, is accused of assaulting the woman during a massage he was giving her at Advanced Wellness Center of Pennsylvania on the 14000-block of Bustleton Avenue. continue reading »

Friday – Lifeguards came to the rescue Friday night in Torresdale, where a young girl nearly drowned. Two lifeguards at the Torresdale Boys Club pool on Linden Avenue pulled the 4-year-old from the water when one noticed her struggling. The girl was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale in stable condition after one of the lifeguards performed CPR. continue reading »

Thursday – Two teenagers were shot late Thursday night in a Castor Gardens incident at Unruh Avenue and Kindred Street. The shooting left 18-year-old Tyree Branch of the 6500-block of Horrocks Street dead from a wound to his back. The other teenager, 17, was treated at Jeanes Hospital for a wound in the arm. continue reading »

Friday – Authorities are investigating the shooting of a man by police early Friday morning in an incident that began outside Aria Health-Frankford. Reports say officers witnessed a car drop off two gunshot victims at the hospital, and the officers decided to follow the car. UPDATED Breaking: cops, medics in Upper Holmesburg 0

UPDATE: A source tells us a man was stabbed on the block and an arrest has been made. We’ll bring you details as we get them.

A resident of the 4300-block of Enfield Avenue in Upper Holmesburg tells us something major is happening on the block. Police, ambulance and paramedics arrived about an hour ago, and now about six police cars are on the street. We’re following up with the authorities.

Friday – Police are searching for a man who robbed K-mart with his young daughter in tow. Friday morning, the man emptied a jewelry case in the store off Roosevelt Boulevard as his daughter watched. He made off with between $1,000 and $2,000 worth of jewelry in a gold Ford Taurus. He’s described as a white man in his 30s, weighing about 150lbs and is about 5’10” with a goatee. He was wearing a black or blue sweatshirt with white on the sleeves. continue reading »

Friday -- The Philadelphia Fire Department has determined the cause of the deadly explosion in Tacony back in January. As PGW crews tried to fix a high pressure gas leak Jan. 18, a furnace inside a chiropractic office ignited the blaze. The explosion killed 19-year-old PGW employee Mark Keeley. continue reading »
