Internal affairs is investigating three police officers in connection with an attempted theft at Pat’s Cafe in Northwood.
According to reports, two officers responded to a break-in report early Tuesday morning at an auto-detailing shop in Pat’s at Castor Avenue and Arrott Street. After determining the call unfounded, the officers went to Pat’s for a drink, and were joined by a third office who was not wearing a uniform. continue reading »

Fifteen years ago, the Thriftway at Bridge and Pratt streets in Frankford installed a fence at the front of the store.
At the time, the poles were used as a way to deter customers from walking off with shopping carts, but now, several wheelchair-reliant Frankford residents are protesting.
A crowd gathered outside the supermarket Tuesday, demanding that the locked gate, which is operated by a guard, be left open at all times to allow for better access for wheelchair-bound shoppers. continue reading »

The inner northbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard were closed near Pratt Street yesterday following a three-car accident.
At least two people were transported to Temple Hospital and one of the vehicles overturned during the accident, which occurred around 5 p.m.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

The Wissinoming/Frankford border is argued a lot among residents of both neighborhoods. Some say Cheltenham Avenue is the boundary, while others push it down to Bridge Street.
Regardless, the school bus accident that happened at Pratt and Valley streets last month was in Frankford. Not in Wissinoming, as Action News reported. Might seem like a small matter, but one block can make a difference. continue reading »

Police arrested a woman Saturday afternoon after what they say was an intentional attack with her vehicle.
Reports say the woman intentionally ran over a man with her car at the intersection of Pratt and Horrocks streets in Northwood. The victim, 27, was pinned against a wall before being taken to Temple Hospital in stable condition. Though the woman attempted to flee the scene, 15th District officers apprehended her.

Two school buses collided yesterday afternoon in Frankford during the after-school hours.
A small school bus and a larger one collided at the intersection of Pratt and Valley streets around 3:30 p.m. The 45-year-old woman who was driving one of this buses was taken to Aria Health-Frankford for treatment of minor injuries.

Police are searching for a man whom they say attempted to sexually assault a woman in a Northwood dentist office yesterday.
A female employee was opening the office at Castor Avenue and Pratt Street around 7:45 Thursday morning when the suspect entered the businesses and attempted to take her clothes off. continue reading »

The 15th police district is often unresponsive to resident concerns about quality of life crimes, particularly so-called recovery homes, according to an impassioned call to action from state Rep. Tony Payton’s chief of staff at last night’s Frankford Civic meeting.
“We have to harass the police to get them to harass the criminals,” said Jorge Santana, Payton’s top legislative staffer.
Santana’s call came after another of the neighborhood’s monthly civic meetings broke down into a open venting of frustration over the ongoing battle with private boarding houses that are known citywide for selling themselves as places of recovery for people suffering from an array of addictions and instead devolving into havens for drug activity.
