Two men were arrested Saturday after they robbed the Best Buy on Roosevelt Boulevard near Red Lion Road.
The men were waiting for store employees to open the doors just before 7 a.m. Saturday when they forced the employees inside at gunpoint. One employee was bound with plastic handcuffs while the manager was forced to open the safe. The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and some merchandise. continue reading »

Friday — Sean Hagan, 17, was sentenced last week to 80 hours of community service. Hagan is better known by most as Red Man, the teenager who ran onto the field wearing a red bodysuit during a Phillies game last month. An accident involving a trash truck during morning rush hour yesterday left one person seriously injured.

From the 7th District Police:
The 7th District has experiences a spike in hub cap thefts. In the past 2 days, there have been 15 hub cap thefts. The areas affected are from Red Lion Road south to Woodward street, and the Blvd to Bustleton Avenue. Call 911 if you observe suspicious activity around any vehicle. DO NOT TAKE ANY ACTION, outside of calling 911 with a good description.

The man who allegedly shot 22-year-old Rachel Marcelis has been arrested. Michael Elliot, 25, of the 6100-block of Hegerman Street, is the suspect in the shooting of Marcelis early Wednesday outside of Fat Pete’s Bar on the corner of Torresdale and Devereaux. He was showing off his gun when it allegedly went off, according to police.
