Two officers were injured, one seriously, during a robbery arrest Tuesday night outside the Bustleton Avenue Target. The suspect fled the Target at Bleigh and Bustleton avenues when employees suspected he was shoplifting. He injured two officers before getting arrested. continue reading »
Two men were arrested Saturday after they robbed the Best Buy on Roosevelt Boulevard near Red Lion Road.
The men were waiting for store employees to open the doors just before 7 a.m. Saturday when they forced the employees inside at gunpoint. One employee was bound with plastic handcuffs while the manager was forced to open the safe. The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and some merchandise. continue reading »

UPDATE (Nov. 12, 2010 at 11:26 a.m.) — Obina Onyiah has been charged with the murder of Glatz. The 27-year-old Frankford resident escaped from the crime scene in a car driven by another suspect, who is still on the loose.
UPDATE (Nov. 9, 2010 at 11:36 a.m.) — Authorities are questioning a second suspect whom they believe in connected with the robbery and homicide at Glatz Jewelers.
UPDATE (Oct. 26, 2010 at 10:22 a.m.) — Police say an arrest is imminent in connection with those responsible for helping Kevin Turner escape from prison. The suspects will face charges involving Turner’s escape and the murder of William Glatz.

William Glatz, owner of William Glatz Jewelers in Lawncrest is dead today following a shootout in his store yesterday morning.
Two men attempted to rob 67-year-old Glazt in his store on the 6400-block of Rising Sun Avenue around 11 a.m. Thursday. Glatz exchanged gunfire with the suspects and sustained a bullet wound to the chest. He died later at Einstein Medical Center. continue reading »
Police are investigating an early morning shooting at gas station on the 6200-block of Roosevelt Boulevard between Devereaux Bustleton avenues.
Two men robbed a man at the Hess Station around 4:30 a.m., shooting the 18-year-old victim in the head and arm. While the victim is in stable condition, authorities are searching for the suspects who fled in a tan or black car.

Police are looking to the man who robbed a Frankford store at gunpoint early this morning.
Around 1:15 a.m., a masked man entered the Pantry Food Market on the Harbison and Torresdale avenues, and robbed the store at gunpoint. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
It’s unclear if there were injuries, or if the robbery is related to the June 8 robbery of a nearby 7-Eleven, which occurred on the same block at the same time of night.
Two gunmen robbed a Frankford 7-Eleven early this morning, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to reports, the two armed men walked into the 7-Eleven on the 5200-block of Harbison Avenue around 1 a.m. They announced the holdup, took the money, and ran. No one was injured.
The man who robbed a St. Jude store yesterday is still at large after making off with $200.
According to reports, an armed gunman robbed the St. Jude store on the 2100-block of Cottman Avenue yesterday. The suspect held a gun to a female employee’s head and demanded money.
The suspect — described only as a tall, thin black male wearing a turtle neck — fled on foot from the store’s back exit.
A robber was met with gunfire this morning when he attempted to rob Mayfair Drug Store on the 7500-block of Frankford Avenue.
According to reports, when the suspect attempted the robbery, the store security guard fired two shots at him. The suspect fled the scene, though it’s unclear if either of the shots hit him. He remains on the loose.
