Updated, June 12 – Police have arrested 19-year-old Eric Horvath of the 7500-block of Brous Avenue in Sandyford Park.

Original report, May 3 – Police in the 15th District are still searching for the suspect who robbed a man at knifepoint late last month in Mayfair.

Just before 3 a.m. April 26, a car with two males inside pulled into the 7-Eleven parking lot at Cottman and Brous avenues. One of the suspects rifled through another car in lot, then approached the car’s owner when he emerged from the store. continue reading »

District 172: Breaking down funding during the Perzel era 0

This is part of ongoing coverage in “District 172: The Politics of Change after State Rep. John Perzel,” a collaborative effort with Philadelphia Neighborhoods funded by J-Lab.

About $10.6 million was funneled directly to the Mayfair Community Development Corp. since 2000, granted from the state Department of Community and Economic Development, according to its website. Much of it went into street cleaning and senior citizen programs.

 

The document states $800,000 was used toward the Devon theater.

 

The same state department gave the Holmesburg Civic Association and the Friends of the Holmesburg Library $5,000 each, according to state records.

Sandyford Road

Police this afternoon discovered a body in Pennypack Park.

That decomposed body of a man in his 50s was found off Sandyford Road near Revere Street in the small patch of woods that separates Lexington Park from Sandyford Park.

The cause of death has not been determined.
