Police are looking for suspects in a shooting that left a man dead in Frankford Friday night.
Officers discovered a man on the 2000-block of Wilmot Street just before 8 p.m. after responding to calls of a shooting. The victim was found on the ground with a gunshot wound in his abdomen, and was pronounced dead a short time later at Temple University Hospital.

Police have arrested two suspects for an early Thursday morning shooting around Roosevelt Boulevard and Bridge Street.
Authorities discovered a man around 1:30 a.m. who’s been shot multiple times with a rifle, and the victim was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.
A short time later, SWAT members arrested two men on the 1200-block of Cheltenham Avenue.

Officers in the 15th District were busy yesterday with two evening crimes in Mayfair and Frankford.
At 6 p.m. officers responded to a robbery report at the First Republic Bank at Frankford at Cottman. Authorities are looking for a white male about 5’8″ with a thin build who was wearing a plaid shirt. Police have identified the man who was shot and killed for his motorcycle Monday in North Philadelphia. Mohan Varughese, a 23-year-old Bustleton resident, died Monday afternoon from multiple gunshot wounds.
Varughese was reportedly sitting on the front steps of a home on the 2200-block of North Camac Street with his girlfriend, a Temple University student, when a man came by with a gun and demanded the keys. When Varughese didn’t act quickly enough, the man fired three times. continue reading »

Friday — Two the causes of two Thursday fires are under investigation.
Around 10:30 a.m., a woman was rescued from a fire on the 8900-block of Frankford Avenue. She reportedly suffered severe burns over 60 percent of her body. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.
A ruptured gas line sparked a blaze that night on the 1400-block of Creston Street. PECO, PGW and fire officials were able to stablize the scene and put the fire out. continue reading »

A woman is in critical condition after being shot multiple times on the 4700-block of Vista Street.
Police believe the shooting began in the back of the house around 8 :30 p.m. The 29-year-old was shot multiple times and rushed to Aria Health-Torresdale. It’s not clear if she was the intended target. An arrest has not been made.

Update: Taylor is in an induced coma following the shooting, which police are still investigating. The name of the officer, who works in the 18th District, has not been released.
An incident involving a an off-duty police officer and another man is being investigated. Around 4 p.m. yesterday, an off-duty officer reportedly asked 23-year-old on the 4600-block of Worth Street in Frankford why the man was carrying gun. continue reading »
