Two children were struck and killed in separate Mayfair car accidents this week:

A 12-year-old boy died Monday after being fatally struck by a tractor trailer on Cottman Avenue.

Albert Talley was riding his skateboard on Cottage Street in Mayfair when the truck, which was going eastbound on Cottman Avenue, hit him around 4 p.m.

The boy, who lived on Torresdale Avenue in Holmesburg, was later pronounced dead at Aria Health’s Torresdale facilities.

Just 24 hours later, a young girl was hit by a car early last night in Mayfair.

The 7-year-old girl was hit near the intersection of Brous and Unruh avenues around 6 p.m., police said.  She was rushed to St. Christopher’s Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Investigations into both accidents are ongoing, but authories said the drivers of both vehicles stopped at the scenes. As of Monday night, it appeared the tractor trailer driver was not speeding and did not run a red light. More details from yesterday’s events haven’t been released yet.

Police found a 3-year-old boy alone in a Frankford apartment Wednesday morning. Neighbors and nearby PGW workers saw a police officer break down the door to an apartment on the 1700-block of Scattergood Street.

Police say the child, who appeared to have been left alone all night, looked relieved to see the officers, and ran into one’s arms. The boy was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, and seems to be unharmed. Neighbors say his mother, 22, is a “good mom,” but is refusing to cooperate with police.

The boy is currently with DHS, and Special Victims Unit is seeking a warrant for the mother’s arrest.
